Resilient community hub — schematic MEP design, south-coast Puerto Rico
Dual-function community center in a high-climate-risk coastal barrio, designed to convert into a shelter for up to 1,000 people and sustain basic needs through a three-day grid outage. Resilient Equities delivered the MEP schematic design: rooftop solar with battery energy storage, ENERGY STAR appliances and efficient lighting, rainwater harvesting with drip irrigation and low-flow fixtures, and HVAC and ventilation sized for safe conditions during emergency occupancy. Infrastructure follows FEMA safe-room guidelines.
Cemetery administration and maintenance buildings — LEED energy credits, central Puerto Rico
Two structures: a 5,200 sq ft administration building and an 8,650 sq ft maintenance building serving a cemetery operation. Resilient Equities delivered LEED 2009 certification work for the Minimum Energy Performance, Optimize Energy Performance, and Renewable Energy credits. Modeled result: 20% energy cost savings for administration and 32% for maintenance against the baseline model; a 38 kW rooftop photovoltaic system raises the maintenance building to 86%.
Pediatric extended-care center and headquarters — conversion, Miami-Dade County
10,800 sq ft of retail and warehouse space converted to offices and a therapy center for children requiring extended care. Resilient Equities produced permit drawings for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety under the 2023 Florida Building Code 8th Edition and Miami-Dade County ordinances, with ASHRAE-based ventilation and thermal-comfort criteria for a pediatric population and a DERM-compliant hydromechanical grease interceptor for the food-service area.
Utility control center — major renovation, San Juan, Puerto Rico
100,650 sq ft, 24/7 facility undergoing major renovation with a LEED v4.1 Silver target. Resilient Equities delivered energy consulting: energy modeling of HVAC and lighting design options and certification work for the Optimize Energy Performance and On-Site Renewable Energy credits. Modeled result: 17% energy cost savings against the baseline model, rising to 38% electricity cost savings with a 354 kW parking-canopy photovoltaic system.
