EMC MIA Motorcars is a 30,000 square feet existing structure that is converted into a commercial car showroom with adaptive reuse. This project was a collaborative effort with Hatch Architecture and CJ Development Group, where Resilient Equities was subcontracted to undertake the HVAC design, focusing on creating an optimal environment for both the office spaces and the showroom.
This collaboration began with detailed thermal load calculations, essential for determining the heating and cooling requirements to maintain comfort levels across varied conditions. These calculations take into account factors such as insulation quality, building materials, and internal heat gains from occupants and electronics. HVAC drawing plans and system selection was also delivered.
By following the 2020 Florida Building Code and Miami-Dade County requirements, we shared energy reporting as required to guide the selection and implementation of HVAC solutions that not only meet immediate comfort needs but also align with sustainability goals. By analyzing energy consumption patterns and forecasting future needs, the project emphasizes the importance of energy efficiency in reducing operational costs and environmental impact.
